Swimming pools more than 70 years in the making

Our founder, Wayne Steimle, was once in your shoes. He envisioned adding a pool to his backyard, but he struggled to find swimming pool contractors with the necessary knowledge and experience during the 1950s. Rather than compromising on design, settling for questionable installation methods, and dealing with an unpredictable process, Wayne took matters into his own hands.

With the enthusiastic help of his high school physics students, Wayne embarked on a hands-on journey. Equipped with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, they completed the pool in a mere three months. Their dedication and craftsmanship did not go unnoticed - their creation was a hit in the neighborhood, and soon after, requests for Wayne to build more pools came pouring in.

This marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Wayne built his reputation and business robustly, eventually leaving his teaching career to establish California Pools in 1952.
